OUR SPECIALTY

Zellige tile

Fes, Morocco

In a tradition that dates back over a thousand years, authentic Moroccan zellige tiles are meticulously crafted in a process that takes up to seven days per piece.

Our master artisans, whose expertise passed down through generations, source the perfect slabs of clay. The slabs are hand-cut into precise shapes and then fired in kilns to achieve their characteristic hardness. Each tile is then hand-painted with intricate designs, glazed, and fired again, resulting in vibrant, durable surfaces that withstand the elements, making them ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.

Moroccan artistic heritage facts

Morocco boasts an artistic legacy spanning back to the 7th century when our ancestors settled in the Maghreb. It is important that we protect our cultural heritage. We share with you authentic traditions passed down through generations. Maghrebi art tells the story of our people and history.
The Berber tribes of Morocco are renowned for their vibrant and symbolic textile work, particularly in the creation of carpets and rugs. Each piece is painstakingly hand-woven using traditional techniques and natural dyes, with patterns that convey cultural stories and values, such as protection and fertility.
In the subtropical south, carvers skillfully fashion Thuya wood into intricate marquetry geometric designs inlaid in luminous Thuya wood. This traditional art has been integral to Moroccan culture since medieval times, yielding a variety of items from decorative plates to luxurious furniture. You may find some of the more elaborate antiques on display in world-class museums.
