Takchita & djellaba traditional dress
Traditional Moroccan attire like the Djellaba, kaftans, and takchita are integral facets of our culture.
These garments are adorned with magnificent embroidery, vibrant colors, and stitched by hand from luxurious fabrics such as silk or velvet, adorned with opulent beadwork, embroidery, and metallic threads.
We can trace their history back to the 7th century; styles have evolved over time but are always characterized by flowing silhouettes and exceptional embellishments.
The two-piece takchita, influenced by Ottoman and Andalusian styles, consists of a richly adorned dress underneath.
Kaftans are elaborately-decorated ankle-length robes with fantastical embellishments that lend them a luxurious texture and weight.
